A little history…

Can Micos is a farmhouse from the 17th century, located between cultivated fields on the outskirts of the historic town of Riudarenas, the farmhouse was bought by the family in 1862. Can Micos started being the Typical farmhouse of farmers in the area, it consisted of the part of the house where the family lived, then there was the barn for the cows, the chicken coop, a small pigpen with 3 or 4 pigs, a haystack to store the food of all the year that produced the fields and an orchard for the self-support of the family.

The farmhouse retains the original structure of that time.

History of the town

The most remarkable fact of the history of Riudarenas is found in the Guerra del Segadors (1640). When around 1640 the Spanish thirds led by Leonardo Moles decided to go to the coast and a looting and burning of the church and the town of Riudarenes took place, the parish church of Sant Sadurní de Montiró was burned down as well.

So significant was the sacrilegious fact in the society of the time, which at the same time has been included in the song of the Reapers, since it was one of the events that most encouraged the revolt of the Catalan insurgents against the government of Felipe IV.
